One of the leaders of our church counseled us to do the same thing back in 2007 and I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I'll share his insight with you: http://lds.org/general-conference/2007/10/o-remember-remember?lang=eng It's counsel I'm beginning to try harder to follow now. How neat that that is advice you can find no matter what Christian denomination you follow. It must be something that Christ really wants us all to learn, huh? Good luck to both of us as we strive to follow and be happier and more grateful people. :D

i love when the right, most perfect words meet us exactly where we are with what we need. i've been thinking a lot about how what we think & believe makes us who we are. i gratitude journal within my 'regular' journal, but i decided with her prompting yesterday to open up a new book of mine just for that. easier to look back on and share. what's one more book to add to the stack? :) xo

If you get a good commentary do a word search on the word THROUGH you will begin to giggle when you see how many times things appeared so hopeless and God brought someone or a group of someones THROUGH something. I don't believe the Lord I love and trust so much will EVER leave nor forsake us. He has such a special way of knowing what is best for us no matter how loud and long we yell and scream that things are not fair. Just think of the times you have had to withhold something from yur own children because you knew there was something so much better coming. It was hard for you as a parent yet you knew what must be done. If the only thing the Lord ever did for me was die for my sins, that would be enough. If He never answered another prayer, salvation would be enough.

Thank you for that. I needed that today. Life's been hard, oh so hard. We, also, don't know where we are being led or for what purpose we were led here. And the transition has been hardest on me I think. Thank you for the reminder. We are thinking of your sweet family and wish the best for you! Merry Christmas!

I read or heard somewhere once that compassion's original definition from the Greek or wherever actually meant to "suffer along with" someone's pain. When WE aren't suffering, but someone we care about deeply (or even people all the way across the world who we've never even met) are going thru hell on earth and we still feel that pain and anguish as though its our own. THAT is true compassion. We do not serve a God who doesn't know what we're going through at any time.

That was so cute how they were playing! I love that Kourtney was able to see her own influence and thought about what behavior she needed to change. What a mature, grown-up girl! I feel the same way you do... I, too, sometimes wonder what messages my actions are sending. "Oh my" for sure! Being a mommy certainly isn't easy, is it?
